Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Muhammad has publicly urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to heed the grievances of Nigerians, asserting that the current policies are failing to address pressing issues and causing widespread hardship.

During a meeting with a delegation of Islamic scholars led by Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, Governor Muhammad emphasized the need for the president to acknowledge and rectify his administration’s. He stated, “This is not a matter of disrespect or arrogance; as leaders, we have a responsibility to speak the truth. It is imperative that the president understands the severity of the situation, as the people are suffering due to ineffective policies.”

The governor specifically highlighted the impact of the recent tax reform policy, noting, “No government can thrive without adequate revenue. If revenue sources are compromised, governance becomes untenable.” He expressed concern that the current approach is detrimental not only to the citizens but also to state governors who are grappling with the fallout from these decisions.

Acknowledging ongoing tensions with the presidency, Governor Muhammad remarked, “Yes, there is a conflict because our people are in distress, and the president has been unresponsive to our calls for change.”

He further revealed that he had intended to discuss these issues directly with Sheikh Jingir, recognizing him as a key figure who could effectively communicate these concerns to the president. “You are one of the few individuals the president listens to,” he noted, emphasizing the importance of dialogue in addressing the nation’s challenges.
