Atiku Abubakar and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have dismissed recent endorsements for President Bola Tinubu by APC governors, labeling them as signs of panic and desperation. Atiku expressed confidence in defeating the APC in the 2027 elections, citing widespread dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s governance and economic policies.
Mazi Paul Ibe, Atiku’s media adviser, stated that the coalition remains undeterred, comparing their preparation for the election to a student ready for an exam. He emphasized that the ultimate judges are the Nigerian people, not political maneuvers from the ruling party.
The PDP criticized Tinubu’s administration for rising insecurity and economic hardships, claiming that recent defections to the APC are coerced rather than ideologically driven. Alhaji Umar Bature, the PDP’s National Organising Secretary, noted that endorsements don’t guarantee victory, recalling that former President Goodluck Jonathan lost despite having numerous endorsements.
The PDP maintains that the core issue is the government’s performance, not the quantity of endorsements.
