The Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has held its inaugural meeting in Abuja, weeks after its inauguration by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The closed-door session took place at the Yobe State Governor’s Lodge in the Federal Capital Territory.
The meeting was hosted by the committee’s chairman and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, and attracted several governors and senior party leaders, highlighting the strategic importance of the committee within the ruling party. Governors present included Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Hyacinth Alia of Benue State, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Uba Sani of Kaduna State, and Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State.
Also in attendance were the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola; and former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello. Other key figures at the meeting included Senator Kabiru Marafa, former APC National Legal Adviser Muiz Banire, and Ibrahim Masari, Special Assistant to the President on Political Affairs.
However, Governors Bassey Otu of Cross River State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State, and Umar Namadi of Jigawa State, who are also members of the committee, were absent from the meeting.
The committee was set up by President Tinubu to address lingering internal disputes within the APC and to strengthen reconciliation and mobilisation efforts across the party. The inaugural meeting is believed to have focused on outlining a working framework and strategies aimed at unifying party members and consolidating the APC’s structures nationwide.
