The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has formed a 20-member committee focused on Membership, Revalidation, Mobilisation, and Registration to oversee membership initiatives across the nation. This effort is part of a strategy to enhance the party’s structure in preparation for the upcoming 2027 general elections. The committee was inaugurated recently in Abuja, marking a significant step toward establishing a credible and verifiable membership base.
David Mark, the National Chairman of the ADC, emphasized that the committee’s work would be vital in harmonizing existing membership records and eliminating inconsistencies. He noted that a strong and well-documented membership is crucial for the party’s legitimacy, outreach, and overall electoral success, especially as the party aims to increase its presence and influence throughout Nigeria.
Kashim Imam has been appointed chairman of the committee, with Aisha Yesufu serving as deputy chairman and Sekonte Davies as secretary. The diverse membership also includes various representatives from different sectors, reflecting a commitment to inclusivity and broad representation within the party.
The committee’s objectives include overseeing the registration of new members while ensuring transparency and adherence to party guidelines. Additionally, it aims to develop a comprehensive mobilization strategy focused on engaging grassroots support at various levels, from polling units to state levels. This approach underscores the importance of involving ordinary Nigerians in the political process.
Mark has called on the committee to conduct its responsibilities with integrity and fairness, stressing that the future of the ADC depends on unity and credibility. As the ADC prepares for significant electoral challenges, the committee’s mandate to engage and mobilize citizens reflects the party’s ambition to resonate with the needs and aspirations of the average Nigerian.
