The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its National Vice Chairman for the South-South, Dr. Usani Uguru Usani, due to alleged violations of the party’s constitution and activities deemed detrimental to its unity and electoral prospects. The suspension follows resolutions made during a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the Cross River State chapter on October 15, 2025.

In a statement issued by the ADC’s State Publicity Secretary, Hon. James Otudor, the decision was prompted by multiple petitions accusing Dr. Usani of engaging in anti-party activities, insubordination, and conduct that could undermine the party’s cohesion and public image. The suspension will remain effective pending a formal investigation by the party’s disciplinary bodies, in accordance with the ADC constitution.

The SWC also criticized the appointment of Ms. Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, claiming she was imposed on the state without proper consultation. They alleged that Ms. Wayas had not engaged with the state leadership since taking office and had not demonstrated loyalty to the party’s unity.

Moreover, the committee expressed concerns about members of the Coalition Movement, who had declared support for the ADC but had not formalized their membership months after making their pledge. The party warned against dual membership and stated that its platform would not be used by individuals pursuing conflicting political interests.

The ADC directed all coalition leaders and prospective members to regularize their registrations at the ward level by October 25, 2025, or risk exclusion from leadership and decision-making structures. The Cross River chapter reaffirmed its loyalty to the ADC’s national leadership and expressed its commitment to providing credible leadership and building a people-oriented political platform in the region.

“We urge all members to remain calm, law-abiding, and steadfast as the party’s internal mechanisms for discipline, justice, and accountability take their full course,” the statement concluded.
