The National Assembly has moved to address public concerns over alleged discrepancies in recently gazetted tax laws, assuring Nigerians that certified copies of the bills signed by President Bola Tinubu will be made available for public scrutiny.

In a statement, the Director of Information of the National Assembly, Mr. Bullah Bi-Allah, said the Assembly had directed the Clerk to release the transmitted tax bills, including the certificate pages, to enable the public verify their authenticity.

He explained that the decision followed allegations of inconsistencies between the votes and proceedings of the National Assembly and the versions of the tax laws published in the official gazette, noting that the release would promote transparency and accountability.

Bi-Allah added that despite widespread public interest, only a limited number of individuals had formally requested the Certified True Copies of the harmonised bills, stressing that all such requests had been processed. He also disclosed that the Clerk is working with the Federal Government Printing Press to publish the duly certified and assented Acts in line with the law.

To prevent future disputes, he said the National Assembly would review its procedures for the transmission and gazetting of bills, adding that only requests initiated by the Clerk or an authorised representative would henceforth be recognised by the printing press, while appreciating Nigerians for their constructive engagement.
