In a significant political development, Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara announced that several influential former leaders of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) have pledged their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This announcement was made during the New Year banquet hosted by the Rivers State Government at Government House, Port Harcourt.

Notable figures in attendance included former PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Austin Opara, former Rivers State Governor Celestine Omehia, and former Minister of Transport Dr. Abiye Sekibo. Fubara emphasized that their collective support effectively counters perceptions and allegations that he is collaborating with individuals opposed to the President.

During his speech, Fubara expressed confidence in navigating the political landscape and reaffirmed his commitment to governance by saying, “Those who put their trust in God can never be put to shame.” He reiterated his administration’s goals for Rivers State and declared that 2026 would be a year of “complete liberation” for the region.
