The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) may face a significant loss as former Jigawa State Governor Alhaji Sule Lamido has indicated that he might leave the party if its internal crises remain unresolved. In an interview with the BBC Hausa Service, Lamido expressed disappointment over what he perceives as deliberate attempts to undermine the PDP.
He stated that failure to address the party’s deep divisions could compel him to seek alignment with another political party. Lamido lamented the calculated efforts by some within the party to weaken and ultimately destroy it, framing these issues as detrimental to the PDP’s unity and electoral prospects.
He emphasized that if solutions to these challenges are not found, he would take whatever decision he considers best for his political future. Lamido warned that ongoing infighting could further erode the party’s strength ahead of future elections and urged for decisive actions to restore unity and discipline within the PDP. Although he remains committed to democratic ideals, he will prioritize decisions that align with his political principles and convictions.
