Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Ododo, has announced the discovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition from criminal hideouts following a joint security operation in the state. The operation yielded various weapons, including 24 AK-47 rifles, 23 pump-action rifles, one Tavor rifle, one FN rifle, several pistols, magazines, and a substantial amount of ammunition.

In a briefing in Lokoja, Governor Ododo explained that the operation was the result of sustained, intelligence-driven surveillance conducted by security agencies in coordination with the state government. He noted that this intensified effort to combat criminal activity was prompted by a recent meeting with President Bola Tinubu, who advised him to increase security measures for the welfare of the citizens.

Ododo quoted, “When I met Mr. President, he told me to go back and do more for my people. That statement re-energized me.” Following this guidance, the security forces conducted a coordinated operation that uncovered a major stash of weapons hidden in a criminal enclave.

Although no arrests were made during the operation, Ododo described the recovery as a strategic breakthrough in the fight against crime. He pointed out that Kogi’s geographical location, sharing boundaries with 10 states, complicates security efforts due to multiple entry and exit routes for criminals.

“Our security operatives are working relentlessly, day and night. We will never bow to criminals, and we will never negotiate with them,” Ododo declared, urging residents to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information.

He praised the collaboration among various security agencies and expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his support, assuring the public that they can go about their lawful activities without fear.
