The All Progressives Congress (APC) has disqualified former national secretary Senator Iyiola Omisore and six other aspirants from its upcoming governorship primary election in Osun State.

The disqualified candidates include Babatunde Oralusi, Oyedotun Babayemi, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, former Deputy Governor Benedict Alabi, Adegoke Rasheed Okiki, and Senator Babajide Omoworare. In contrast, Mulikat Abiola Jimoh and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji have been approved to contest in the primaries.

The decision was announced in a report by the APC Osun Governorship Primary Election Screening Committee, chaired by Obinna Uzoh. The committee indicated that the disqualified aspirants failed to fulfill the party’s mandatory requirements, particularly the need to present sponsorship from at least five registered and financially up-to-date party members from each local government area in Osun.

Uzoh emphasized that the scrutiny was applied equally to all aspirants, reinforcing the importance of fairness and transparency in the electoral process. He stated that the committee acted in accordance with the APC Constitution and party guidelines, confirming that a petition from the Osun APC Renewal Group prompted the thorough verification process.
