President Bola Tinubu has made significant changes to the hierarchy of Nigeria’s Service Chiefs in a move aimed at strengthening the national security architecture. This was announced in a statement from the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare.

General Olufemi Oluyede has been appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff, replacing General Christopher Musa. Other appointments include:

  • Chief of Army Staff: Major-General W. Shaibu
  • Chief of Air Staff: Air Vice Marshall S.K. Aneke
  • Chief of Naval Staff: Rear Admiral I. Abbas
  • Chief of Defence Intelligence: Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye will retain his position.

The President expressed profound appreciation for the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff and the other Service Chiefs for their dedicated service. He urged the newly appointed leaders to enhance the professionalism, vigilance, and camaraderie within Nigeria’s Armed Forces.

All appointments take immediate effect, and further details are expected to follow.
