Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has inaugurated the newly constituted Civil Service Commission, marking a significant step in enhancing service delivery within the state’s public sector. The ceremony took place at the State House in Alausa, Ikeja, where Mrs. Boladele Dapo-Thomas, a retired Permanent Secretary from Lagos Island, was appointed as the Chairperson of the five-member commission.
The other members include Mr. Fatai Olalekan Lasisi, Mr. Lateef Yahaya Olawale, Mr. Afolabi Olatunji Sobowale, and Mr. Rufus Adekoya Adedapo, each representing one of the state’s five traditional divisions.
During the inauguration, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of integrity, fairness, and efficiency in public service. He stated that the commission’s leadership is essential for ensuring that the Lagos civil service operates with discipline and meritocracy. “Your decisions will impact the quality of services millions of Lagosians depend on—from education and healthcare to security and infrastructure,” he remarked.
The Governor urged the new commissioners to foster innovation, create growth opportunities, and remain accountable to the public. He expressed confidence in their ability to elevate the Lagos civil service as a model of excellence across the nation.
The Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, praised the Governor’s commitment to appointing capable individuals, crediting the administration’s strategic leadership for making Lagos State’s civil service one of the most vibrant among subnational governments.
Responding on behalf of the commission, Mrs. Dapo-Thomas expressed gratitude to the Governor for the trust placed in them and pledged their commitment to advancing the administration’s vision, ensuring the civil service remains competent, efficient, and forward-looking.
