The Nigerian Senate has dismissed allegations linking a viral romantic video to a serving Senator, insisting that the footage is both outdated and unrelated to the National Assembly.
Reacting to the widespread speculation, the Senate spokesperson and Chairman of the Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, clarified that the man in the video is not a current member of the upper legislative chamber. “That video has been online for four to five years. It predates my tenure in the Senate and even dates back to my time in the House of Representatives,” he stated.
Adaramodu also refuted claims that the video was filmed within the Senate complex. “There is no office architectural configuration like that in the Senate,” he noted, offering to show multiple offices for comparison.
Online commentary surrounding the video continues to stir public outrage, but the Senate maintains it has no ties to the footage and has called for restraint in spreading misinformation.
