The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has denied reports claiming that the Continuous Voter Registration CVR will resume on May 27 2025.
The clarification was made on Sunday by the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman Rotimi Oyekanmi in response to a message circulating on social media.
Oyekanmi stated that INEC has not announced any date for the resumption of CVR or for the transfer and replacement of lost Permanent Voter Cards PVCs.
He described the viral message as fake and anonymous and urged the public to disregard it.
According to him the Commission will announce the date for the resumption of CVR and other related activities at the appropriate time using its official communication channels.
He said the public should rely only on information provided through INECs verified platforms.
The misinformation had spread rapidly on platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook generating confusion among the public about the actual status of voter registration.
INEC reiterated its commitment to transparency and proper communication in handling electoral processes.
