The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed optimism about reclaiming political dominance in the state and beyond by the 2027 general elections.
The party’s state chairman, Elder Abraham Amah, made this declaration during the Abia North stakeholders’ meeting held at the Ohafia North country home of Hon. Mandela Obasi, a member of the Abia State House of Assembly.
“PDP will rise again. We have what it takes to win,” Amah asserted. “Give us candidates elected by the people, and we will take back majority seats in the House of Assembly.”
He warned against internal sabotage, stating, “Anyone who tries to sell out this party will face the consequences. If you no longer believe in the PDP, step aside.”
Obasi, who hosted the gathering, backed the chairman’s stance and expressed confidence that the party would secure more legislative seats in 2027. Other party stalwarts in attendance included the PDP South-East Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Asuoha; Abia North PDP Chairman, Okereke Elendu; former federal lawmaker, Uko Nkole; and Hon. Emmanuel Ndubuisi of Bende South.
In a communique issued after the meeting and signed by 40 members, the stakeholders reaffirmed loyalty to the PDP and praised the current state leadership. “We stand behind Elder Amah’s bold and strategic leadership,” the document read.
The party leaders emphasized unity and inclusiveness, calling for greater youth and women participation in party activities. They also announced the formation of local strategy and reconciliation committees across Abia North to address lingering issues and strengthen grassroots support.
Despite recent defections to rival parties, the PDP stakeholders insisted the party remains intact and well-structured, pledging to work collectively toward reclaiming the Abia Government House in 2027.
