On April 7, 2025, governors from the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the auspices of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), paid a courtesy visit to former President Muhammadu Buhari at his residence in Kaduna. This gathering was characterized as a significant demonstration of unity within the party.
Following the conclusion of Ramadan, Lent, and the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations, the meeting was seen as timely. Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, who serves as the PGF chairman, addressed journalists after the closed-door discussions, emphasizing the importance of honoring Buhari, who has served two terms as president under the APC banner. He referred to Buhari as a “father figure” in Nigerian politics and expressed his pleasure at seeing him in good health and high spirits.
Uzodinma took the opportunity to thank Buhari for his exemplary leadership and the solid foundation he laid for the APC, which has allowed the party to maintain its dominant position in Nigeria’s political landscape. He stressed the necessity of internal unity and effective leadership as critical components for ensuring continued electoral success.
The governors asserted that the APC remains Nigeria’s largest and most formidable political party, well-prepared for the upcoming 2027 elections. Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, who hosted the gathering, also lauded Buhari as a statesman whose influence continues to guide the party’s direction.
This visit highlights the ongoing commitment of APC governors to reinforce party cohesion and leadership as they navigate the evolving political landscape in Nigeria.
