The Bauchi State Coalition of Christian Youths and Elders in Politics has officially pledged its unwavering support for Governor Bala Mohammed’s political future, particularly as he considers a run for the presidency in 2027. During a press conference held in Bauchi, the coalition, led by Chairman Joel Joshua and Secretary Danladi Audu, praised Governor Mohammed as a “Christian-friendly, multi-religious, and multi-ethnic leader” who has governed without bias.
The group expressed its strong belief that Governor Mohammed is one of the few capable leaders who can address Nigeria’s pressing socio-economic and security challenges. They urged him to heed the numerous calls from various quarters encouraging him to contest for the presidency. “Our prayers and support are assured,” the coalition stated, reinforcing their commitment to his political aspirations.
Highlighting the governor’s achievements, the coalition noted that Bauchi State has emerged as one of the safest in the Northeast, attributing this progress to Mohammed’s effective governance and dedication to inclusivity. They emphasized his commitment to serving all citizens, regardless of religious or ethnic backgrounds.
The coalition also acknowledged Governor Mohammed’s goodwill towards the Christian community, citing his sponsorship of 176 Christian pilgrims to Israel in 2023, along with financial support to ensure their comfort during the pilgrimage. This act, they said, demonstrates his commitment to fostering unity and goodwill among different religious groups in the state.
As the coalition expressed its desire for Bauchi to remain in capable hands, they urged the governor to select a competent successor who will uphold his legacy. Quoting Proverbs 29:2, they affirmed that under his leadership, “the people are rejoicing and not groaning,” and they hope to see his vision for the state sustained beyond his tenure.
The coalition reiterated its confidence that Governor Mohammed will ensure a seamless transition to a like-minded successor, reaffirming their steadfast support for his political ambitions as he eyes the presidency in 2027.
