February 6, 2025 – Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has officially welcomed Senator Ned Nwoko into the party following his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Nwoko cited the ongoing turmoil within the PDP as a significant factor in his decision, expressing frustration with the leadership of Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa.

During the welcome ceremony, Ganduje assured Nwoko that with all three Delta senators now part of the APC, the party is well-positioned to win the upcoming governorship election in Delta State. He commended President Bola Tinubu for implementing reforms, noting that positive outcomes are already becoming apparent, such as increased oil production and improved security.

In his defection letter, Nwoko characterized the PDP as a once-powerful platform that has fallen victim to internal strife and a lack of direction. He stressed the importance of a credible opposition in Nigeria to maintain democratic accountability and stability.

Nwoko has called for the Senate to investigate the issues within the PDP and suggest necessary reforms to strengthen the opposition. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Delta North and requested that his new party affiliation be officially recorded in the Senate.
