The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the recovery of its Edo State secretariat, which has allegedly been seized by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The PDP insists it will continue to fight for the return of the property located at 59 Airport Road, Benin City.

In an exclusive interview, PDP National Deputy Youth Leader Timothy Osadolor condemned the APC’s actions, labeling them as an attack on democracy. He noted that the building was previously occupied by the PDP after Governor Godwin Obaseki defected from the APC in 2020.

Osadolor criticized the ruling party for ignoring the law, stating, “We’re witnessing abnormalities that should never happen.” He emphasized that these actions undermine democracy and could lead to unrest among the populace.

The PDP has taken legal action against the APC, citing court rulings that have restrained the ruling party from taking control of the premises. Osadolor urged President Tinubu to take note of the situation and rein in the APC’s actions.

Efforts to reach APC leadership for comment were unsuccessful. The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, and National Vice Chairman (South-East), Dr. Ijeoma Arodiogbu, did not respond to inquiries regarding the incident.

As tensions rise, the PDP has urged its members in Edo to remain calm and avoid escalating the situation.
