The Federal Government has announced public holidays for Wednesday, December 25; Thursday, December 26; and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, in celebration of Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year.
This declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, on Monday.
Tunji-Ojo extended warm greetings to Nigerians, urging them to embrace the values of love, peace, and unity during the festive season. He remarked, “The Christmas season is a moment for spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us show kindness and goodwill to one another, regardless of our differences.”
He highlighted the importance of strengthening family and community ties, fostering harmony that supports national development.
Reassuring citizens, Tunji-Ojo affirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity throughout the nation. He expressed hope that President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would lead Nigeria toward greater prosperity in 2025.
